Get Some Sun

Hey gang,

We’ve been blessed with a beautiful stretch of great weather lately. The sunny days have certainly helped boost my mood and outlook on life. The sun has helped me stay motivated to do my workouts outside throughout the day. If you haven’t tried it yet, give it a shot on your next workout! There’s something to be said for working out in the fresh air.

There is also the awesome benefit that comes from being in the sun: Vitamin D. Our body naturally absorbs Vitamin D through sunlight. It isn’t found in many foods, so it can be a tough commodity to get your hands on if you aren’t supplementing it on the side. Throughout the winter, I take a vitamin D supplement to keep my body’s levels up, but throughout the spring/summer I rely mostly on sunlight, which is free!

Vitamin D has quite a few health benefits that you may not be aware of. It has been shown to reduce the chance of certain cancers, increase natural testosterone stores, improve cognitive function and boost the immune system. If you plan on supplementing anything in your diet, it’s always a good idea to contact an expert before testing it out yourself! Luckily, sunlight is a pretty safe way to get this vitamin.

So let’s try it out this week. Make time to soak up some rays and vitamins while working out outdoors!

Cheers,

Coach Caleb
