Use your Fitness

Hey Gang, this upcoming weekend is the May Long holiday weekend! We are taking the day off and so should you! There will be no Zoom workout or programming sent out that day. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take the chance to participate in some physical activity. I want you to USE YOUR FITNESS in a way you might not normally!

This past weekend, I went for a solo hike up Mount Work. I was curious to see if I could do it under a certain time. So I set a goal of going sub 60 minutes from the parking lot, to the top, and back to the parking lot. Instead of just meandering up the trail like I might usually, I pushed myself harder to keep going despite how much my legs were burning. Having my goal in mind kept me pushing the pace all the way. It was tough, but when I finished and achieved my goal it felt really good. I even ran into Liz Lyon and her family as they were descending which was a nice bonus!

On the holiday weekend, I challenge you to put your fitness to the test OUTSIDE of the gym or your home set-up. Go for a hike up Mount Finlayson, run around Beaver and Elk Lake, bike to Sidney and back, or swim across Thetis Lake (might be a bit chilly still)! There are plenty of other amazing options in Victoria, so let’s see what you’ve got. I want you to set a goal for your activity and see if you are capable of achieving it. You work so hard to improve your fitness, it’s awesome to observe how much it actually helps in real world scenarios.
