The Secret to Happiness

The happiest people are those who are in the pursuit of helping others. When we give of ourselves whether it is in service or gifts it releases endorphins that bring us great pleasure. I have hard fast proof of the validity of this statement in our community.

Over the past few months I have been astounded by the random acts of kindness I have witnessed in public and behind closed doors. You guys have blown my mind by the way you have looked out for each other. Driving up island to pick up loads of equipment, organizing cinnamon bun drop offs, delivering flowers and gifts, paying for others memberships fees, and even sharing composting worms are only just a few ways I have seen love poured out at CFLT. In this midst of all this serving I there has been so much joy!

There is an old saying “I wept because I had no shoes until I met the man who had no feet”. This time has been trying for everyone but the secret to surviving it with sanity is to focus on how we can meet the needs of those around us. Our brain can’t really focus on more than one thing at a time. The beauty of turning our thoughts to others is that we are unable to think of ourselves and our own misfortunes.

If you are struggling with worry and anxiety try a random or intentional act of kindness today and see if the fog lifts and you can see past the horizon to a brighter future.

Thanks CrossFit LifeTree for being the kind of people I want to be when I grow up!
