3 EASY Ways to Stay Motivated to Train

Motivation is usually the reason we either keep pursuing our goals and the lack of motivation is why we often fall short of accomplishing what we set out to do. It’s an overused word for sure, but it still can pack a punch if you can find a way to make it work for you.

Here are my top 3 methods I use to stay motivated to train:

1. Review your long and short term goals FREQUENTLY

This helps me establish my WHY for each training session. I find that working out without a WHY can feel pointless sometimes which makes it hard to get excited to train. Do a mental check-in with yourself before each session to give that session purpose.

2. Watch a motivational video!

Yes! I really do find that these help a lot. I recently watched the newest CrossFit documentary on the 2019 CrossFit Games and it was very motivational to watch. It’s not for everyone though, especially if it doesn’t align with your goals. But YouTube is awesome for all kinds of motivational videos. Give it a try!

Here are a few that I will put on from YouTube occasionally when I need the boost:

“Patience”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqu2QzJK19M

“Good”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdTMDpizis8

“Maybe it’s My Fault”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zSVu76AX3I

 3. Have an accountability partner or coach

This one is huge for me. I really need someone there to bounce ideas off of and check-in with regularly. Lots of our members who are continuing to be coached virtually have accountability with their coach, but sometimes more is needed! Reach out to a friend from the gym who you can check-in with daily or semi-weekly to keep each other honest and on track. Message us at CrossFit LifeTree if you need that accountability and we will do whatever it takes to get you back on track!

Remember your WHY. Why did you start working out? Why do you want to keep working out? What’s stopping you? Let’s find a way to get you motivated enough to get past those things that are stopping you.
