Getting Creative

Hey gang,

With the lack of all of our fancy equipment at our fingertips whenever we so desire, getting creative over the next few months will be our saving grace from having to use the same dumbbell/kettlebell for every workout. I know people have grown to love their single piece of equipment, with some of you going as far as to nickname your gear. But eventually, the honeymoon phase will come to an end and you may look at your dumbbell or kettlebell with disdain (heaven forbid).

I know some members have taken it upon themselves to upgrade their garage gyms with some more workout gear. As you may have noticed, most equipment supply stores are out of stock or are taking “weight”-lists for more gear. If you don’t want to wait for the restocking or you don’t feel like spending that extra cash right now, there are other creative ways to make equipment to spice up your training regime.

If you find yourself with extra time on your hands, which many of us seem to have these days, I challenge you to make your own MEDICINE BALL! The medicine ball is a versatile item that can be used for many different movements. Of note, the wallball is our movement of choice, but that is not the only one we program. The med ball is an object that you can create by sourcing out household items that you don’t use anymore.

The main things you will need are:

  • An old basketball or soccer ball
  • A funnel of some sort (can be crafted out of a plastic bottle)
  • Sand
  • Duct tape or gorilla tape

Follow these simple instructions to make it happen!

If you find that it is lighter than you’d like, then you may need to find a bigger receptacle to store the sand inside.

Get busy making those med balls and send us pictures of your completed projects!

Cheers,

Coach Caleb
