Kim joined the CFLT community and has just recently discovered the astounding transformations that happens in your body when you couple great nutritional habits with consistent CrossFit training. We are proud to share her incredible story:
I started Crossfit in the fall of 2021, carrying some extra weight and basically feeling old. I have always been pretty fit but at the age of 53 I was struggling with strength, agility and of course body image. In March 2022 I had a second Inbody scan, which lit the fire for change. During that 7-month period between scans I had been going to Crossfit, playing hockey and thought I was eating pretty good, however to my dismay, I had actually gained fat and lost muscle mass.
I took a Nutrition Kickstart with Tianna in April. I learned what a balanced diet consisted of and ways to make it sustainable. I loved the accountability and the tips and tricks I learned. In six weeks I had lost approximately 15 lbs of fat and I had gained muscle mass. I now eat more protein more often throughout the day. I have more energy, feel stronger, and have a better relationship with food.

I started CrossFit to prove to myself I could do hard things and that I wasn’t destined to be a weakling forever. I love it now because it is the hour in my day I am fully present, challenge myself physically, feel connected to a positive and supportive community, and it has helped keep my stress levels in check. In fact I credit CrossFit for keeping me mentally healthy through covid and grad school and I now know I can do hard things!

Leila knows how to bring joy and enthusiasm into the hardest workout and make it fun for everyone in the class. We feel blessed to have her in our community and are so proud of her progress.

CrossFit Lifetree has added so much value to my life. There are the obvious things of course like improved strength and endurance. I can run up flights of stairs and haul bags of chicken grain now without skipping a beat, I cannot begin to tell you how much joy this gives me.
Unexpected benefits are that I have a connection with my body that has resulted in increased coordination; I notice it while doing daily activities like pulling clothes from the washer and bending down to pick things off the floor. Bum back, knees over toes, back flat, head up, no fear of hurting myself while thrusting the canopy onto the truck or dead lifting furniture.
What I love most about CFLT is the above and beyond support from the trainers. Through thick and thin they have been a rock for me. Knowing that I will always be met with a smile when I arrive and encouragement when I need it makes it easy to show up for myself and pass the support on to others.
Emma Davis
Having struggled with an eating disorder as a teenager I’ve had a complicated relationship with food. I joined the Nutrition Kickstart with the goal of developing a healthier relationship with food & improving my performance in the gym.
Although my goal wasn’t to lose weight, I Iost 4lbs of fat and gained almost 1lb of muscle mass in the 6 weeks. More importantly, since starting to fuel my body properly I have noticed HUGE improvements both inside and outside of the gym. I feel physically and mentally stronger, I’m more confident, and I have more energy.
One of my favorite things about the programme was that the weekly lessons focused on adding healthy habits into my everyday life rather than trying to eliminate “bad” or unhealthy foods. When I focused on eating protein with every meal, drinking enough water, and getting my veggies in, I found myself feeling full by the end of the day. I also loved the weekly group meetings – hearing about what was working for other people was a great way to get inspiration for meal prep & snack ideas.

During the nutrition kickstart, I made so many simple changes! My mindset changed when I realized my nutrition does not have to be perfect. You can have one bad meal and get back on track without punishing yourself. I also learned that all the changes were way simpler than I thought and could easily be incorporated into daily life.
I noticed I felt fuller and less ‘snack-ish’ throughout the day. By fueling my body with whole foods, and more protein, I had more energy. I also noticed near the end I just felt better about myself- more confident, and more positive.
For anybody considering starting nutrition coaching, don’t be afraid! It was so awesome to learn new habits in such a supportive environment.
